Westboro

Westboro, also referred to as Westboro Village, is located to the west of downtown Ottawa. Westboro is bordered by the Transitway, Tweedsmuir Ave to the east, Carling Ave to the south and Denbury Ave to the west. The Ottawa River defines the northern boundary of Westboro and the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway defines the eastern border. Homes in Westboro were starting to be built around 1900 and 1960, which some are now declared heritage homes due to their age and status. Today, Westboro is one of the most predominant neighbourhoods in downtown Ottawa Area. This village is packed with amazing restaurants, bakeries, unique boutiques, stores, and parks.

Though there is not a current LRT Station for Westboro, there is a Westboro Station along the Transitway as well as two OC Transpo local buses that run through Westboro along Richmond Road.

Unlike Centretown which is a hub for industries, government and other forms of work, Westboro caters to more locally owned business as well as chain businesses. Westboro is short distance to Tunney’s Pasture which has several government and military work buildings. For those that go to Ottawa University or Carleton University will need to take an OC Transpo bus to Tunney’s Pasture to grab the LRT to Bayview to take the O-Train or continue on the LRT to Rideau Station.

Hampton Park has a fenced in dog park where you dog can safely run and play. You can access the dog park from Sebring Ave that leads into Parkview Rd. This park is accessible 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

In Westboro there are three wading pool locations for you to check out. There is Lion’s Park at 294 Elmgrove, Iona Park at 233 Iona St, and Hampton Park at 645 Parview Rd. Each year the open and close dates change due to either weather or maintenance on the splash pad. To find out more information on the opening days and times, click here .
