Mechanicsville is located in the Kitchissipi Ward to the west of downtown Ottawa. It is bordered by the Ottawa River to the north, the O-Train to the east, Scott St to the south, and Parkdale Ave to the West. Thought mechanicsville is small in size is is the perfect location to anyone that works for the government or DND at Tunney’s pasture as it is right next door. Within a very short walking distance is the Ottawa River and Lazy Bay.

The Bayview Station is within a short distance to many of Mechanicville’s condominiums. This station is not only used by the LRT but it is also the first/last stop for the O-Train. The O-Train runs from Bayview Station and ends at Greenboro while the LRT runs from Tunney’s Pasture through to the downtown core and east to Blair Station.

Adjacent to Mechanicsville are several government and DND buildings that are accessible from Tunney’s Pasture Station. There is also the Embassy of Indonesia and a lawyers office.

Though there isn’t a dog park in close proximity to Mechanicsville, Laroche Park is located off Stonehurst Ave and Bayview Station Rd. It is not fenced in area so leashes are advised but it is a great park to take your dog for a walk. Another great spot to take your dog for a walk is along the Ottawa River Pathway. There is a designated walking path along that water for both you and your dog to enjoy.

For those that have children will be happy to know that there is a splash pad at Laroche Park located at 52 Bayview Rd. This splash pad is open during the summer months but the open dates stager due to maintenance but you can click here to find out when it’s open.

Though there are not any gyms, yoga, spin etc right in the boundary of Mechanicsville but there are several within a short 10 minute or less walk. There is CrossFit Hintonburg, PranaShanti Yoga Centre, Premium Performance Fitness Centre, Wheelhouse Cycle, and several martial art studios.
