Lebreton Flats
Lebreton flats is located west of Centretown and is bordered by the Ottawa River, Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, and along Albert and Slater St. Included in the boundary lines is the Canadian War Museum, the National Holocost Monument, and now Pimisi Station. Lebreton Flats was named after Lieutenant John LeBreton, one of Nepean Township’s first settlers in 1819. LeBreton Flats was a booming community in the mid 19th century for serving the lumber mills on the nearby Chaudiere and Victoria islands. When the railway came in so did the industries along with it, creating housing and work for those that lived in the community. Over the years LeBreton Flats has seen many changes from new homes and condominiums being built to a completely different style of train running along next to it.
